SPARROW, the caged lovebird of a ruthless ‘fixer’, is feisty, sassy and knows how to throw a punch. She is the latest conquest and forced bride of Troy Brennan, a man on a mission. One night, Troy kidnaps Sparrow and forces her into a sham marriage of convenience. Tongues wag, sparks fly, and inevitable chemistry causes both parties to question everything they’ve ever believed in. But, why did Troy kidnap and marry someone he barely even knew? Who killed his dad and why? What dark skeletons lie in Troy’s closet and how will it ruin his life? Read to find out.
I don’t want to say more because it will ruin the story.
All I have to say is: read this book. SPARROW is easily one of the best reads of 2016 for me. It’s dark, super-wicked-insanely HOT, gives you all kinds of feels, and is filled with unexpected twists and turns. I loved Sparrow’s character the most; I don’t think I’ve ever read about such a mouthy, ballsy, kickass heroine before. Not only is this a messed-up, gut-wrenching love story, but it’s also a mystery/thriller in which the male protagonist must hunt down the person who killed his father.
There are some triggers in this book. Some people might not like them, but I found that they added to the realism of the story. Troy is a flawed alpha hero, not a Saint. It’s clear from the get-go he won’t be a good guy, y’all.
Some parts will require you to suspend your disbelief for a bit, but overall, the storytelling on this one is incredible. Writing style is drool-worthy. I breezed through this book in less than 3 days, and couldn’t stop flipping mad Kindle pages until I got to the end late last night.
Read this book. It’s free on Kindle Unlimited, and only $2.99 to purchase.
I’ve already got BLOOD TO DUST, L.J. Shen’s next book, waiting for me on my Kindle. If you read this, or have read this, let me know what you thought of it in the comments below!
